January 2018

This comfortable cabin is a simply and well-equipped base for exploring the wild, sparsely populated beauty that is the east coast of King Island. Metres from the shore, on a quiet esplanade that runs the length of this sleepy hamlet, this is one of three cabins that maximise the sweeping horizon of gently lapping waves that run from the colourful pier (well-frequented by local fishermen) to the all-but-empty, first-class white sand beaches that roll on, uninterrupted, for miles to the north. Clean, fitted out with an excellent array of kitchen equipment and living room furniture, this is the sort of property where the view (from the outdoor table on the front decking or from the comfort of the interior, behind sliding flywire and glass doors) provides a breathtaking vista and inspires calm. Blinds throughout the property and a split system air conditioner allow for a good balance between wrap-around views, light and insulation, while the bathroom includes an excellent shower, in terms of both pressure and evenness. An excellent property, well-suited to those seeking rest, tranquility and simplicity.

We loved our stay at Bronzewing Cottages in gorgeous little Naracoopa. The cabins are exactly as described; spacious, well-presented, very clean and very comfortable. We did our own cooking most nights (fabulous beef and lamb from the butcher in Currie) and all appliances worked easily and efficiently. The shower had good heat and pressure. The reverse cycle air conditioner did a great job taking the chill off the cooler mornings. There is a communal BBQ. Unfortunately no laundry (the laundromat is in Currie). I did miss having a dishwasher (I was on holidays, after all ....). The view from the balcony is fabulous and we spent every night out there with a glass of wine, rugged up with fleece blankets from the cottage and watching the sea change colour as the sun set behind us. Just glorious! I often find it’s the little things that truly make a difference. We had fresh flowers on arrival, lots of soap, tourist brochures, tea and (instant) coffee and a very well-equipped kitchen. Some steak knives would not go astray ... A word of caution, there are no shops in Naracoopa so you do need to bring everything with you from Currie. Also worth noting that it is a quiet residential area, so there is A LOT of wildlife on the roads. On our travels, we passed many an unfortunate wallaby dead on the side of the road. A shout-out to the person/s who appear to go around the island seemingly daily and clear the roads. But, back to Bronzewing, we could not fault these lovely little cabins. Thanks to Sue and Werner for a great stay!

Great location, sea views great for traveling around king island , comfy beds clean and everything you need for a great stay.

April 2018

Lovely accommodation with amazing views out to the ocean. We loved see dolphins swimming past on two of the nights we stayed. Accommodation was just what we needed with everything already there for us to use. Loved being able to just stroll across the road to the beach and go for a walk. Bed was extra comfortable as well and with the town being so quite it was ideal for a relaxing week away.

Great place to stay and owners were very easy to deal with. They gave great information with regard as to what was open over the Easter period and good directions as to how to get to the accommodation.

Dear Sue and Werner,

The Bronzewing cottages is a treasure!  One would like to keep it a secret so it’s available when we want to return.  They are a perfect base for exploring KI and set in a friendly, peaceful hamlet. The cottages are perfect for people who want to relax in a cosy, comfortable accommodation.  Enjoy the magnificent 180 degree sea view and the constant changes in colour, waves and tides.  Catch a fish at the pier.  Take long walks or search for shells at the beach. Indulge in KI cheese and beef.  This place is good for the soul and stimulates ones creativty.

Could life be better?

Thanks

Gun and Brian

Dear Sue & Wemer,

You have done a GREAT job with Bronzewing cottages!

Cottage #2 was clean, bright, comfortable & was well equipped.  We absolutely love the porch & we ate almost all our meals out there.  To me, that is heaven!  I appreciate the fact that you made it a covered porch & protected on the sides from the wind, without compromising the view.

Another thing I really appreciated, was that you only put 3 cottages on that block.  Although aware that the others were occupied, each cottage is far enough away from each other that we were still private & not able to hear the others.  You have also done a fabulous job with your garden beds.  Beautiful.

Thankyou for providing a clothes rack!  This is something I think every holiday home should have!

April 2017

Thank you very much for this wonderful holiday, the cottage was just what I had hoped for.
Close to the beach, for walking and or just to sit at the table and watch the sea.

This side of KI is very lovely and peaceful.  I felt I had the beach to myself.  The people we met were lovely & friendly.
Hope to be back very soon.  So thank you again.

Had a wonderful stay at Naracoopa in Bronzewing Cottages.  A real home away from home in an idyllic setting.
You’ve done a fantastic job preparing these for KI visitors.

January 2017

Hi Sue,

I have been meaning to email you since we have been home, to let you know what an absolutely fantastic time we had on King Island - & for the most part, the accommodation!!!  We loved the cottage, and it was even better that it was at Naracoopa - would not have had that view anywhere else; not to mention the 2 x day walk along the beach!!!  It met our needs perfectly - home away from home!   (Really appreciated too, the goodies in the fridge on arrival)
We have been telling everyone about our trip, how great the Island is and also the accommodation.
We will be back!!
Thank you again.

Cheers

We have just returned from KI and really enjoyed our time there. Loved the cottage it was just the way I like it. Clean, light, awesome position and view.... Had everything you needed without having all sorts of bits around, minimalist works for me every time.

We returned last night from a delightful holiday on King Island. We were thrilled with the location of your cottages - so convenient, and so close to the sea. Definitely preferred the peace of Naracoopa, compared to Currie. We’re impressed with the design (liked the touches of red - my favourite colour) and excellent facilities of our cottage - the double glazing (perfect protection from heat and cold), kitchen/living room, bathrooms, bedrooms (good mattress on our double bed), and mobile access (and hence WiFi access, using my mobile hot spot). LOVED the splendid isolation of the beaches on King Island, and were most interested (and saddened) to read about all the shipwrecks. Our favourite walks/visits were to Lovers Lane (by coast and ridge-tops), Sea Elephant River, Cowpers Point, Blow Hole, Seal Rocks and Copperhead Trail, Surprise Bay, Boathouse Café, Badger Box, Museum (and Lighthouse lens) and King Island Dairy. Couldnt see ANY birds at Pennys Lagoon or Lake Martha Lavinia (however, Sea Elephant and Surprise Bay made up for that), and the shores of both lakes were too overgrown to walk around. Were most surprised to see that the Cape Wickham area was being developed as a golf course. So - as you can see - we had a most interesting, relaxing time on this beautiful island. Im thrilled you suggested that we stay in Bronzewing Cottages.

What a wonderful holiday.... We sat on the deck and enjoyed the ocean view, we read, we listened to podcasts we have been too busy to listen to, we watched the occasional car go past and waved because they waved at us. We left totally rested and relaxed with our batteries recharged. We will be back.....

My wife and me enjoyed our getaway to King Island . It was peaceful and wonderful enjoying the sea view from our cottage after a day exploring the many hidden secrets of King Island . I really enjoyed my long runs around the island and the great fishing from the pier just around the corner from our cottage. The cottage provided all we needed and more. Everything was great and we have no hesitation in recommending Bronzewing cottages to our friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful stay on the island... we will be back for sure...
